Republic Commando - Part 7

Today I show you the process of making the abs. I thought the abs were going to be one of the most difficult parts of the armor, but as I've said before, some of the big parts are much easier to do than the trickier small parts.

For the abs I started with the codpiece and the lower abs that I added to a round "wall" I created. That is the basis for the abs.

It was important to get two layers of foam on top and to cut out the details, so that it comes closer to the original. But that's not the end, after cutting out the basic form, I had to think about making the middle section of the abs.

The middle section is a little tricky as it needs a slight angle forward and enough distance to the lower abs.

As soon as that is figured out, it the whole thing can be build up to the complete mid-section.

I will do the boxes on the side as soon as I have an idea on how to connect abs and butt, as I plan to make those boxes a part of that construction.

The top section.

Between the chest and the abs there is this thin section of another abs plate. As I will do this as a seperate part - due to being able to move in this whole armor - I put it on a separate sheet of paper that will be brought into form as soon as the abs are hardend and fiberglassed.
